Dame Tracey
So I recently visited my home town close to Margate. I’d been before but I wanted to make sure I visited Tracey Emin Art Residency (T.E.A.R.) before the final show of Tracey’s residents ended.
It’s so cool. She takes in residents, for free, for a year and helps them develop their own styles and paths. What an amazing thing to do. The residence is actually a converted public toilet. The more I learn about Tracey the more I discover how much she loves buildings and restoration. She also recently became a DAME and I’m super happy for her.
Check out the residents coming to the end of their stay on Instagram.
I love Tracey because she’s transparent and sincere and that draws me toward her. She’s also from my neighbouring town which obviously is cool, and she has played a huge part (knowingly/unknowingly) in improving the Margate scene. Visiting again recently gave me a new perspective on the area.
The final show has now ended, but you should go and check out Margate, the Turner, the Old Town and T.E.A.R.
